O’CONNELL SPEED ZONING – Council Meeting 12 August

August 11, 2008 by oconnellnsw

B7. O’CONNELL SPEED ZONING

Staff Report to the 12 August 2008 Ordinary Meeting

File No. R253.2

Prepared by Leigh Robins on 1 August 2008

The Roads and Traffic Authority have advised  (Attachment B7) of its intention to reduce the speed zone through O’Connell from 80 km/hr to 60 km/hr.

The advice from the RTA is provided out of courtesy as the road is a State Road under the RTA’s control.

The option to have a shorter 60 km/hr zone in the preschool/hotel area has been canvassed with the RTA but they advise that this is not a viable alternative.

When this section of road is rehabilitated, it would be appropriate to request a review of the speed zone following the rehabilitation works

Recommendation:
That the RTA be requested to reconsider speed zoning through O’Connell following completion of rehabilitation works.
